40 Million Target customers nationwide could be effected
Target Corporation confirmed and has released a statement that it is confronting a security breach that potentially exposed the credit and debit cards of an estimated 40 million customers nationwide, who purchased merchandise between November 27 and December 15.
“Target’s first priority is preserving the trust of our guests and we have moved swiftly to address this issue, so guests can shop with confidence. We regret any inconvenience this may cause,” the statement said.
Independent Federal Credit Union wants you to know that we are very much aware of the Target Corporation Fraud announcement, and are working diligently and swiftly with our debit card processor regarding the issue. The processor is running a list of all cards potentially compromised. If you are confident that you used your card to make a purchase at any Target store between 11/27 and 12/15, then contact the Debit Card department immediately to order a new card.
We would like to advise you to watch your credit card activity and statements very closely for any bogus charges and notify us immediately if you see any fraudulent activity.
